LAB42 Community Spotlight: The Code to Change & Civic AI Lab in a €3.1M Project

Bringing together AI research, social impact expertise, and community voices to tackle complex real-world issues: it's exactly the kind of collaboration we believe in. The Code To Change and the Civic AI Lab - both part of the LAB42 ecosystem - are contributing to a newly awarded €3.1M NWO (Dutch Research Council) project. The project is led by the University of Twente and focuses on building inclusive urban resilience.

Over the next 6 years, the project will explore how digital technologies and AI can support more responsive, inclusive, and responsible policymaking in cities. A central focus is making sure that the experiences and perspectives of underrepresented communities are part of how technology and policy are shaped.

AI innovation with real societal impact

We’re excited to see The Code to Change and the Civic AI Lab helping drive this work forward, and showing how the LAB42 community contributes to AI innovation with real societal impact.

The project is funded through an NWO KEM call: a Dutch national funding program that supports knowledge-driven innovation for major societal and economic challenges.
